Learn more about the artist, Sandy Bekker. She is a contemporary South African artist, curator and teacher who is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. Her paintings are inspired by her experiences with the natural elements in nature, philosophy and the tactility of paint. She studied a Bachelor of Fine Art achieving the Maggie Laubscher Sholarship for 3 consecutive years. This current art exhibition is a collection of contemporary artworks that the artist has created over her past 5 years living in Asia - China and Thailand. They are inspired by nature and the philosophies she has experienced during this time. Where does human creativity intersect with the natural world? Is there a tangible boundary, or are we simply threads in nature’s intricate fabric? This exhibition explores these questions through the visions of two distinct artists whose works prompt us to reconsider our role and impact within the natural world. In this exhibition, contrasting perspectives converge to offer complementary insights. One artist transforms waste into tranquil abstract landscapes urging us to rethink our ecological impact. Meanwhile, the other incorporates natural elements into their art, prompting reflection on the relationship between humanity and nature. Together, their approaches weave a compelling narrative of the dynamic interplay between human agency and nature. ‘Not only nature: Between Transformation and Coexistence’ offers a unique perspective on our interactions with the world, offering a deeper contemplation of the vast, interconnected web of our existence.
